Join the City of Goodyear for the 5th Annual Juneteenth Family Day on Friday, June 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. This year marks an exciting new chapter as the event moves to its brand-new home at Goodyear High School!

This year’s theme, “Homecoming,” celebrates the rich traditions, culture, pride, and community spirit of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through an evening of entertainment, education, art, and family fun.

Experience the excitement of an HBCU-inspired celebration featuring unique photo opportunities, including a mock homecoming parade float, a large-scale HBCU logo installation showcasing colleges from across the nation, and an interactive HBCU map where alumni and future students can share their connections and aspirations. Guests can also create personalized keepsakes at the custom tote bag station and explore Art on the Yard, featuring five vibrant Juneteenth murals commissioned by the City of Goodyear.

Enjoy performances by local artists, majorette dancers, and a special marching band composed of HBCU alumni from across the country, bringing the energy and excitement of a traditional HBCU homecoming to Goodyear.

Attendees of all ages can participate in interactive workshops and activities, including majorette dance lessons, African drumming, line dancing, financial empowerment sessions, family tree workshops, storytime, Afroletics, and children’s crafts. The Kids Zone will offer princess and superhero meet-and-greets, hands-on activities, and a toddler soft-play area designed for younger guests.
In celebration of Father’s Day weekend, children can create and personalize Father’s Day cards onsite, and the first 500 fathers in attendance will receive a commemorative event pin.

Guests are invited to shop from local artisan vendors and enjoy a variety of food truck offerings throughout the evening.
