The Porch: What Happened to the Village?

Remember when neighbors knew one another, families looked out for each other, and the church was a gathering place for the entire community?

The Porch is a community conversation bringing together residents, faith leaders, business owners, educators, young adults, and community leaders to explore a powerful question: What happened to the village—and how do we build it again?

Hosted by Union Institutional Baptist Church, this engaging event will feature a moderated panel discussion, audience participation, and meaningful conversation about the changing role of families, churches, neighborhoods, and community connections. More importantly, we’ll talk about solutions and what each of us can do to create stronger, more connected communities.

Come ready to listen, share, connect, and help reimagine what “the village” can look like today.
