Local Black Disability Advocate Seeking Community Votes to Win The People’s Artist Competition

In 2017, Cazoshay Marie’s life changed forever when she was struck by a vehicle traveling 48mph while crossing the street in downtown Phoenix. The crash resulted in a traumatic brain injury and permanent disability. Rather than allowing the tragedy to define her, she transformed her experience into a mission of advocacy, education and creative expression.

Today, Cazoshay is a disability advocate, speaker, writer, entrepreneur, content creator and artist. She serves on the Brain Injury Association of America’s Advisory Council and HuffPost’s “Voices of Disabled People” Advisory Board, using her platform to promote accessibility, inclusion and awareness for people living with disabilities.

Now, Cazoshay has advanced to the Top 5 of The People’s Artist competition, where she is using her artwork to showcase the resilience, talent and contributions of the disability community. If selected as the winner, she plans to donate a portion of the prize funds to charitable organizations, including the Brain Injury Association of America.
