Video: HBCU Challenge Has a Shot to Become a Great Phoenix Tradition
Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul, Boost Mobile and other local businesses/organizations teamed up to host the first-ever HBCU Challenge at Footprint Center in Phoenix on November 28-29.
While the crowds inside the Footprint Center were relatively small, the excitement for the games featuring Morgan State University, Hampton University, Grambling State University and Norfolk State University was palpable! The action on the court was extremely intense!
The HBCU Challenge offered an awesome opportunity for Arizona residents of all races to see HBCU basketball programs up close and personal!
Even though in-state schools such as Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Grand Canyon University, Ottawa University and Arizona Christian University have been hosting football and basketball games against HBCU teams, the HBCU Challenge was the first event in Arizona that only featured HBCUs … to our knowledge.
We hope that Chris Paul and his team will continue hosting the HBCU Challenge in Phoenix and moreover, we hope that PhxSoul.com can get involved in the planning process so we can help bring a much larger audience in future years!
Judging from his comments on ESPN, we are confident that Chris Paul will give the HBCU Challenge another go in Phoenix in 2022!
