The Laura & L.D. Nelson Foundation will host its inaugural fundraising event on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Warren’s Supper Club in Chandler, Arizona. The event marks the official launch of a groundbreaking initiative to preserve and honor the story of Laura Nelson and her son L.D. Nelson, victims of a wrongful lynching in Oklahoma in 1911. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit company. Warren’s Supper Club in Chandler.
Laura Nelson holds a tragic distinction in American history: she was one of the few women lynched in the United States. Together with her young son L.D., their deaths represent the intersecting brutalities of racism and sexism during the Jim Crow era—a story that has been largely forgotten by mainstream historical discourse.
“For too long, Laura and L.D. Nelson’s story has been relegated to the margins of history,” said Bruce Nelson Founder/President of the Laura & L.D. Nelson Foundation. “Our mission is to ensure their truth, resilience, and legacy remain in the hearts and minds of people everywhere, and to use their story as a catalyst for contemporary conversations about racial justice and historical accountability.”
