Arizona Child and Adolescent Survivor Initiative Seeking Adult Mentors in Maricopa County
Research shows that a stable relationship with a caring, consistent adult helps build resiliency and predicts better outcomes for at-risk children and children who have experienced domestic violence. NAU’s Arizona Child & Adolescent Survivor Initiative, or ACASI, is seeking mentors to make a difference in the life of a child who has lost a parent to intimate partner homicide.
More than 3,000 U.S. children lose a parent to intimate partner homicide each year. ACASI is a statewide victim service project that provides specialized trauma therapy, intensive case management, advocacy, peer support, assistance with victim compensation claims and victims’ rights information and mentoring. Mentoring is one of
ACASI’s core services.
If you are an adult living in Maricopa County and you have a sincere desire to make a positive difference in a young person’s life, our project needs you. ACASI is seeking mentors, specifically for African-American and Hispanic and Latino youth who reside in West Valley areas of Maricopa County.
