Join us for Black Womenomics 2021 — a forum on closing the pay and wealth gap for Black women and girls.
Come for the education … stay for the fashion, vendors, entertainment, a VIP reception, and dynamic empowerment speaker Cheryl Jones.
Each year, Equal Pay Day for All is held in April, however when we look at the wage gap for women of color, the gap is far greater. Compared to men, women earn approximately $.82 (cents) on the $1. And when compared to White, non-Hispanic men, African American women earn only $.58 to $.67 (cents) on the $1. This means the typical Black woman must work until the first week in August to be paid what her White male colleague (comparable in education and experience) was paid by December of the prior year.
There are many contributors to the wage gap, including employment discrimination, gender and race-based bias, lack of pay transparency, an inadequate minimum wage and tipped minimum wage, unfair workplace practices, lack of affordable child-care, lack of quality public education systems, a dismantling of organized labor, and inadequate access to capital. Join us in closing the pay gap and providing income security for women and girls of color.
