On October 23, Tremaine Jasper of PhxSoul.com and Chicago residents Brian and Janet Hall talked with KPNX Channel 12 about the Arizona Jazz Festival cancellation and future of big SOULful concerts here.
PhxSoul.com Received the Following Statement from BTWConcerts.com on October 22
BTWconcerts.com cancelled the Arizona Jazz Festival on Friday, October 16, 2015.
BTWconcerts.com was forced to cancel the festival because it was the victim of substantial financial fraud. Due to the fraud, the company was left without sufficient funds pay the expenses of the festival. BTWconcerts.com concluded it could not proceed in good faith and had no choice but to cancel the festival.
The Company is investigating the fraud and intends to make every effort to recover what it has lost, pay refunds to its customers and any money that may be due its vendors. The company fully appreciates its obligations to its customers and its vendors. It regrets the actions it has had to take but, under the circumstances, it is certain it did not have any other alternative.
It is premature to provide any further information at this time. BTWconcerts.com will not have any further comment until the investigation has been completed or is much further along. However, it will remain in contact with its customers and its vendors with updates.”
Arizona Attorney General Brnovich Obtains Refunds for Arizonans after Canceled Concerts
In July 2017, Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced a settlement with BTW Concerts.com, LLC, an Arizona-based concert promoter involved in the cancellation of the 2015 Arizona Jazz Festival. The settlement included up to $75,000 in restitution for consumers and bans BTW Concerts.com, LLC, and related entities BTWCruises.com, LLC, and Alternatix, Inc. from promoting concerts in Arizona.

I can’t believe there isn’t more outrage from Arizonans with the mysterious events surrounding the cancelation of this three day event. I myself purchased tickets for all three days to celebrate my daughters birthday. I found out about the cancelation Friday night from a friend. I would not have known. I booked a hotel for that weekend. I haven’t received any notification or communication from BTW entertainment on anything including how I get my money back. This whole thing is really shady. I’ll be in contact with the AG Im sure.
This company should be ashamed of themselves. I still have not gotten any info from BTWConcerts. We will not just go away without refunds.
I got a notice about it today 10/19/2015 from the Management team on my email. I found out about it 2 days ago just because I was looking at reviews etc. They put rain or shine but not a decline and look at them. So when u see a BTW concerts announcement beware it just might not happen. As they say shit happens
this BOGUS so called “jazz” festival been scamming people for years…the white boy brad who keeps running this ponzi scheme routinely picks black peoples pocket with this R&B show masquerading as a “Jazz” festival…went to one and saw 2 jazz artists back in 2013…never went back…this scammer is ducking & dodging…jazz cruise was also canceled, and sponsors dropped him year after year…Las Vegas & Cancun ticket holders are next to be burned…tell your friends and their friends so that this does NOT happen ever again…thats what we get for having some white boy come into our world to provide what we should have been doing ourselves….LA will NOT allow him here…trust me
I can’t believe what has happen. We have hotel reservations and tickets already purchased. I also had family coming in from California and they already purchased their tickets and airfare. I even took time off from work to attend. I want my money back like yesterday. The day I purchased our tickets the funds were out of my account that same day. So they need to give us our money back ASAP! We want to know what happened one week before the festival.
This is insane. Really. Less than a week before the event. We didn’t even receive an email. Fortunately my friend lives in Arizona and callied me to inform me… I live in St. Louis and have been looking forward to it. Soooo of angry….. I hope they know they better refund people’s tickets. I’m already out of my plane ticket money.
REFUND. .. WHEN DO WE GET IT?
How many times can this promoter pull this type of scam? It really offends me that he (Bradley Laughlin of BTWConcerts) is allowed to produce events, when many of them have been canceled and customers have not been refunded their money immediately. I don’t want tickets to another event of yours, Brad. I just want my money back. I heard that the bands were being falsely advertised without permission since BTWConcerts had not paid performance deposits. If you sell a product that is falsely advertised, then refuse to refund the money – isn’t that fraud? Why isn’t the Arizona Attorney General investigating. This is a damn shame for the Phoenix/Scottsdale music scene.
ALL of you who have posted should post, share & contact your friends & colleagues to get in touch with the Attorney General of Arizona to investigate this. Arizona routinely gets a bad rap for bogus concerts ala R kelly no show, Reggae festival cancellation, etc. You cannot just gripe or complain here….DO SOMETHING. Passive acceptance of abuse invites more of the same. My friends who were going are pursuing this matter through legal & law enforcement channels. Brad Laughlin of BTW concerts also canceled a Jazz Cruise and is alleged to owe many vendors, suppliers and venues untold sums of money. Alert your friends, don’t sit on your hands…do something to stop this robbery of our jazz culture & community.
I just need my REFUND please, ASAP!
Please let me know when will that be?
I hope it dont be too long. Holidays are approaching.
I HOPE THAT EVERYONE WHO IS PISSED AND FEELS THAT FRAUD IS GOING ON WILL FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE ARIZONA ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE (CONSUMER PROTECTION) BECAUSE I AM. COMPLAINTS IN NUMBERS IS HOW WE WILL GET ACTION. HE SURE SEEMS TO BE LAWYERED UP.
BTW credibility will go down the tubes if they do not do what is right. I don’t want to be involved with their legal issues. By getting in this business, they should have backup on funds so their customers are not held hostage to their mishandled issues.
I am greatly saddened by the cancelation of the three day Arizona Jazz Festival that was to happen this past weekend. Months ago, I invited several of my friends who live out of town to attend the event. Everyone booked their tickets back in July and were looking forward to see the variety of great artists who were scheduled to perform. It was embarrassing to find out that the concert was canceled from my out of town guests less than one week before the concert. The thing that really disappoints me is the way the event was canceled. It was handled in a thoughtless and disrespectful manner, without any regard of the money people have spent, hotel and plane reservations made in advance, time taken away from work, along with the hours spent in preparation to attend the event. I am surprised we have not heard from any of the artists concerning the canceled event, which makes this all even more shady. What is going on! Artists never like to disappoint their fans! Hopefully, everyone gets their money returned soon and we will get the truth about what is really going on! Until then, we ALL need to voice our concerns to the Attorney General of Arizona.

I and three other friends flew from Bermuda to Arizona on the day it was announced the festival was being cancelled . Friends from Atlanta and Canada had joined us for the festival as well . I am still out of pocket for 4 3 day passes $1200-. I read somewhere that 70% of persons had been refunded monies ? How did that happen ? I haven’t had an e mail reply from anybody and don’t know how to contact them ? can some one offer advise as to how i can go about getting a refund ? The bank says too much time has past for a credit card refund . Appreciate your help .
