Time for Arizona to "Point" Gov. Brewer Toward the Door! Her Disrespect of President Obama Is Unpardonable!
Before President Barack Obama made his fifth visit to Arizona on January 25, 2012, I made this prediction ...
"My Brothers and Sisters ... I'm hoping for the best, but I'm afraid that you're going to see the good, the bad and the ugly in Arizona. Please brace yourselves for an interesting roller coaster ride!"
Gov. Jan Brewer did her best to make my prediction come true!
First the Good ...
I attended his speech at Intel and it was thrilling to be surrounded by THOUSANDS of people who support our President and his mission for job creation and getting America on track. We sat in the sun for hours while waiting for Obama to arrive but the atmosphere was very positive. When he arrived, the place was electric and he did not disappoint the crowd! He genuinely seemed excited to be in the Valley. Among the many topics he discussed during his 21-minute speech, he made a strong push for job creation and praised Intel for being an excellent model for how we can revive America's economy.
The BAD and the UGLY ...
While we were in the crowd, most of us had no idea that President Obama and Gov. Brewer exchanged some heated words at the airport just minutes earlier.
From all accounts, she started the BAD and the UGLY when she asked Obama if he read her book in which she trashed him. She also has a history of dogging him about illegal immigration - an issue that started long before Obama took office.
Bottom line, Gov. Brewer is not one of the President's favorite people and he let her know how he felt.
She exchanged words with him because she was surprised that Obama fired back at her and she had the nerve to point her finger at him! A CLEAR SIGN OF DISRESPECT!!
It's about time that our President gave his critics a piece of his mind. People have been taking shots at him for far too long and he has to get tougher with them in order to gain their respect. They still may not like his policies but they'll be a lot more careful about blasting him publicly!
I'm truly disgusted with Jan Brewer and I've got a feeling that African American leaders are going to be calling for her to step down much like Sheriff Joe Arpaio. PhxSoul.com will support that effort!!

Travis, I think YOU are the one who is naive. Do you actually think the government can regulate (or stop) how many children people have out of wedlock? All the government can do is offer free birth control and condoms, the rest is PERSONAL CHOICE, which is what you don't seem to understand. President Obama can tell me if I am blue in the face to get an education FIRST and think about having a family second, BUT it is up to ME, not the government to make the right choice. You have to also admit, when things are going well economically, some African-Americans still don't do well. But is that necessarily the government's fault or their own? You need to think about that.
You CANNOT compare a few favors for a religious group to the problems of the African-American community, that's just idiotic. Also, President Obama DOES cater to African-Americans, just like he does to ALL americans, not one over the other like you say he does.
Also Travis, YOU haven't mentioned what YOU are going to do to change things. Don't sit around and wait for the government to solve all of society's ills. Martin Luther King didn't wait around for others to do something, he organized and helped things to get better.

Patrick, your perspective demonstrates gross measure of niavete. U.S. presidents have ALWAYS acted in the interest of particular subgroups of American society. I can assure you that Obama will not likely get a single Jewish vote but more importantly he will not get a single Jewish dollar UNLESS his policies support their interest as an American community first and an international community second. And I am certain they (Jews) as an American community will be more than happy to advance their unique interest over any other American subgroup while you niavely think that Obama has to act in the interest of all Americans uniformly. Was he acting in the interest of the American Islamic community when he went to the UN and vetoed the vote for a seperate Palestinian state? No, he was not. Please explain how he could support both the Islamic liberation agenda and the Jewish apartheid agenda simultaneously. One agenda is certainly going to recieve more consideration that the other. Obama chose to support apartheid.
To say that the problems that are happening in the Black community cannot be fix by the government shows an utter lack of knowledge/understanding concerning US history since many of the social ills suffered by the Black community are a direct result of US government created, supported, and sanctioned policies. If they (US goverment) can create a problem why the hell can't they be responsible to fix that same problem.
In reading the rest of your response, I am not even going to dignify the rest with a reponse other than a quote from Harriet Tubman which goes...
"I have freed a thousand slaves. But could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves."

First of all Travis, Barack Obama is President of the ENTIRE United States, not just for a certain segment of the population. Secondly, the problems that are happening within the African-American community, government cannot fix. WE have to fix these problems ourselves!!!! It doesn't matter who the President is. Do you think Barack Obama can wave a magic wand and everything will be okay? Sometimes we have to learn to make better choices in life.
Besides if you are so concerned with these social problems Travis, why aren't YOU doing anything!!! One person can make a difference!!! You don't have to be rich or famous. Quit waiting for someone else to do something.
Barack Obama DOES care about our community, but he also cares about ALL his constituents. Which is the way a President (of any race) is supposed to. But WE (some African-Americans) just have to start making better choices in our lives. Barack Obama cannot do that for us.

Not eactly sure by what account Obama could be considered an African-American leader. He has show little to no interest in addressing issues of critical concern to the African-American community aside from an occassion admonishment. Nearly 1 million African-American males incarcerated not including probation/parole, 72% of African-American children born out of weblock, 40-50% black unemployment rate in many large metropolitan areas, etc... The African-American community in the US looks like a dead-man walking and all the consideration we can seem to get from him is an occassional admonishment. Maybe if our community formed a corporation we'd get some of the $700 billion worth of consideration he's shown others. Wouldn't consider him a leader of the African-American community by any stretch.
Just one man's opinion.
