the only thing i would add is...
those with a little skill and a lot of imagination can also create their own affiliate programs by selling there books, lectures, workshop, etc.
my motto is "never leave any money on the table" - look for ways you expand your brand/business.
and for those who host events, parties etc. eventbrite also has an affiliate feature. it's a great incentive to get others to help you promote and or market an event.

I have looked at many sites and not come a cross such a site as yours that tells you what you really need to know about affiliate marketing.
